I’ve been very busy the past couple of months working on a variety of projects. I’ll just do a quick recap of what’s been going on.
Android Phone Games – Thanks to a deal with YoinkGames, some of our more popular games should be making an appearance on an Android Phone in the near future.
Halloween Clix Released – This is a re-theme of our popular GemClix Blitz game. But this version really kicks up the Halloween atmosphere with suitable sound effects, music and some seriously wicked graphics.
Nook Color Games – Thanks to a deal with Difference Games Llc, GemClix and possibly a few other games will be heading to the Nook Color soon.
CakeClix – A very tasty, casual, reskin of our popular GemClix Blitz is available for sponsorship at FGL.
RetroBlox – Out latest high tech, fast action matching game is up for sponsorship at FGL. I had fun developing this one.
GemClix II is in development and should be available by the end of the year.
Other games in development: Ballies II, RetroShoot Minute, StarAxia, and several other un named projects.

Not quite sure how this game came about. I took a break from coding StarAxia, started messing around with coding an object being shot out of a cannon. A few days later, BalliePutt is done. lol.
I had a great time coding this little gem. Special thanks to my wife and daughter. It’s great having targeted demographics “in house”. I’d also like to give a big shout out to my buds on tb, which is a secret hang out for people much smarter than me. A few little suggestions made a huge difference in the end result. Cheers!
BalliePutt! Shoot a ballie out of cannon, hit all of the other ballies to clear the level. It’s kind of like golf, where you have to at least shoot “par” to reach the next level. The game has 30 levels. I wrote a nifty little editor for it, so perhaps we’ll see a level pack (or 2) at a later date.
The game will be on FGL for a short time. So check it out there if you have an account.

Well…. I thought I would be able to get ten, 60 second games developed in July, but I’ve been side tracked due to playing around with some ideas for a new game. Like almost all of my other games, I just sit down at the computer and start messing around with code, experimenting with ideas, etc, etc. Very rarely do I ever map out a project design document. (Isn’t that obvious?) lol..
The past few weeks have been fun working on these smaller projects because it has allowed me to come to grips with my new game engine / frame work. I have to admit the new MGE framework is by far the most intuitive environment I’ve ever coded in. It’s a very dynamic system which allows me to expand the core engine at any time. My only concern is that unlike my previous game engines, this one is much more “flash dependent” which means it will be a bit more challenging to port it to other formats if needed. Which leads me to my current game in development…
StarAxia.
Just figuring out the name of the game has taken half my day! Even though I don’t plan on spending more than a few weeks developing the game, the prototype turned out decent so I wanted to get a matching domain name for the game as well. You never know how popular a game might be.
It’s been a while since I’ve released a decent shoot-em-up. I have RetroShoot Rush for the Playbook looking very nice, but I won’t be able to finish it for quite a while. StarAxia isn’t quite as frantic as my other shooters. It’s a bit slower paced. I’m actually attempting to create a shooter with a better flow of progress, perhaps even have a story line.
Perhaps I’ll post some screenies in the next update.

BalliePop60 is a 60 second shooting skill game. Shoot pellets and pop as many Ballies as you can in 60 seconds!

This game turned out to be pretty fun to play! I like the shooting mechanic of it and perhaps I’ll add this into the new Ballies sequel in the works.
I re-used the gui media from the last few games to make development go faster. I’m not sure I’ll ever try to get 10 games done again in one month, but it’s turning out to be fun and inspiring for future projects.
July is all about 60 second games. The goal is to develop ten 60 second skill games in the month of July. That’s about 1 game every 3 days. So far I have Orbis60, Race60, ButterFlyClix60, TypeRocket60, FindTheNerd60, Solitaire60, BalliePop60 finished.
