I Should Be Fishing.

I love fishing! Love to take out my European gear, set up about 4-5 rods from the bank. Turn on the electronic bite indicators. Chum the waters with some pellots, nuts, shad, etc. Waiting for a big Carp, Catfish or Gar to get the indicators screaming. Kick back and enjoy the day. Problem is, I actually havn’t gone fishing at all in 2010. There’s this other thing I enjoy doing, programming, which has probably taken way too much of my time the past year or so. The problem is, there has been so many new things I’ve learned in my ripe old age, it’s almost like learning how to code for the first time!

The past year and a half, I have coded over 20 flash games, released half a dozen or more PC screensavers, released a casual puzzle game for the PC download market, had the same game ported over to the Nintendo WiiWare platform, been part of a Nintendo Wii retail game where my job consisted of coding 30 - 2D mini games, (currently porting over 16 of those games to the Nintendo DS), I have ”a bunch” of un released flash games I need to finish at some point. Plus I have a few new websites to launch in 2010 or early 2011. I’m basically as busy as I want to be.

While it’s been very stimulating mentally, my physical health has taken it’s toll. I’ve put on a “few” extra pounds, havn’t been working out hardly at all, not jamming on my drumset near as much as I should be. Problem is, I’ll sit down to code and the next thing I know 8 hours have passed! Yah…this has been a repeating cycle my entire life. “Hyper Focusing” is what it’s called I’ve been told.

So while I’m trying to code just a bit less each day and add some much needed physical time, I’m also hoping I can enjoy some fishing at least 1-2 times a month from here on out. As a matter of fact, I plan to go fishing this weekend.

Hey… I just bought a new laptop and installed my Flash development kit on it, perhaps I can get some coding in too! (See…what I mean? jeesh…)
